RE: Bright lights in neighbors back yard

Personally, I would have a few night-time BBQ parties in the back yard, using all that free light. Not window-rattling noisy, but quiet and normal sound levels (if the neighbor has issues with someone trying to get into her house, less noise from a crowd is better). I do believe you should ask her if the light can be pointed so that it does not directly shine on your house. In the past we had a neighbor who had dogs that barked all night. I had a theatrical spotlight that I rigged to shine on their bedroom window with a sound-activated switch. A year of begging them to bring the dogs in at night, or move them to a spot behind their house (where there was nothing but woods for 1/2 mile) could not do the trick, but 3 nights of intense light that turned on and off fixed the issue. I like this one too. But if the neighbors aren't home at night, won't really bother them.

RE: Duggars and their 18 kids

It was taking so long to build their dream house because they paid cash as they went and kept redesigning it. One of the tv shows (HGTV?) stepped in and helped them finish it so that the family could move in. I believe they also helped them furnish it. This family is not on public assistance, they're not asking for help. The parents are educating them so they are not using local school resources. The children appear to be well nourished and clothed. The parents appear to be taking good care of the group. Is this lifestyle for me? No. I personally think the parents are crazy, but it's none of my business.

RE: Cost of Cancer

You have enough on your plate just battling this disease without worrying about your job, worrying about insurance coverage.

RE: Baring your soul on RV.NET???

I guess I am so much on the defensive side because I have been on the receiving end of the compassion, friendship, good thoughts, and prayers over the past 4 years. Many I received on the open forum, many others in pms. I greatly appreciate all that I have received.

RE: Baring your soul on RV.NET???

This is one of the safest forums on the internet to 'Bare your soul', mainly because of the over moderation. Try 'Baring your soul' on some of the other forums and they will chew you up and spit you out so fast your head will spin. IMHO 'Baring your soul" and 'Pray for me/she/them/it', posts should not be allowed, and the latter is a violation of this forums rules. Sometimes people need the compassion offered by others here, people who have walked in their shoes, or can offer a different perspective. So be it. It is very easy not to read a post that you have no interest in.

RE: Baring your soul on RV.NET???

Kenny, you're right. Many of us use this forum as a sounding board. When we were dealing with my fil's Alz, I got a few rather nasty comments. But for the most part, people here helped me find the humor in a bad situation. Others sent me pms thanking me for posting about it because they were going through the same thing and it let them know that others were dealing with it too. But if you are going to put personal info out there, you have to be willing to take the criticism that goes with it.

RE: Baring your soul on RV.NET???

I can only speak for myself, no one else. I have posted numerous times here about personal stuff that I was going through. For me, it has been a great stress reliever. I could chat with my friends, get it off of my chest so to say, and not pile more on my family that was already stressed out. I developed quite a few close friends here, ones that I felt that I could tell anything to. Ones that knew I was looking for a way to vent, destress, but not look for sympathy. Those who want to read what I post will, those who don't will bypass my posts, it's that simple.

That is fantastic. I'm sure the grandkids had a great time with grandma. I enjoy camping alone with the grandkids.

RE: Jessica Simpson? real or a joke?

I wouldn't spend any money to go see her. I wouldn't go to see her for free, either.

RE: Nutrasweet and Splenda Free!

I don't have any suggestions, but understand about the sugar substitutes. I have to read lables very carefully, as Splenda or sucralose is in just about everything you buy today. I have two family members that are extrememly sensitive to Splenda, instant abdominal problems and headaches. Sil ended up in the ER. Other daughter has the same reaction to aspartame.

RE: Posters and Their Buddy List

I have a few threads blocked and a few people blocked, don't want to read their posts, don't want to receive pms from them either. Other than those few, I chat mostly via pm here.

RE: cancer

Good thoughts and prayers for all of those facing these illnesses. I found out Wed that I may be facing breast cancer for the 3rd time. An ultrasound showed a 1 1/2" mass. I'm hoping to know more tomorrow.
